問題となっている「女というもの La femme」は、「神の別の名 autre nom de Dieu」である。その理由で「女というものは存在しない elle n'existe pas」のである。（ラカン、S23、18 Novembre 1975）

女というものは存在しない。女たちはいる。だが女というものは、人間にとっての夢である。La femme n'existe pas. Il y des femmes, mais La femme, c'est un rêve de l'homme.（Lacan, Conférence à Genève sur le symptôme 、1975）

「大他者の大他者はある il y ait un Autre de l'Autre」という人間のすべての必要性 nécessité。人はそれを一般的に〈神 Dieu〉と呼ぶ。だが、精神分析が明らかにしたのは、〈神〉とは単に《女というもの La femme》だということである。（ラカン、S23、16 Mars 1976）
