A decree from the Baboon of Barbaria The Empire of Chaos under the discombobulated baboon may allegedly be looking for an off-ramp, TACO-style. If the Empire calls it off, the petrodollar collapses – that’s already on the way – and the Persian Gulf chihuahuas later will be absorbed as Iran’s clients. As it stands, Neo-Caligula’s threat may be about to be configured as the ultimate example of the new paradigm: no rules whatsoever international chaos. If I don’t like you, I will bomb you and kill you. All that “legitimized” by the American political/legal system: a war crime vociferated in advance in a social media post, unilaterally, bypassing any checks and balances, congressional oversight, judicial review, civil society debate. Iran has got all it takes to calibrate its response to this madness designed as a simultaneous plunge into the dark void for global energy supply, financial markets and the supply chains of literally everything people buy. Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf already issued a blunt warning: buyers of US Treasuries are now legitimate targets. “We monitor your portfolio.” He is essentially encouraging cowardly GCC petromonarchies to dump their Treasuries so they may exit the target list – the equivalent of a financial nuclear bomb.

Iran already bombed three Amazon data centers in the Gulf. Next on the list will be Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, Palantir. Saudi and Emirati wealth funds will have to seriously consider the high risk of holding US debt. The Empire of Chaos needs to borrow heavily to fund this Forever War. If yields go out of control, that becomes un-financiable. And then, like a magic trick, the ultimatum was self-expired by neo-Caligula himself. Talk about a royal TACO. His rant on Truth Social walks and talks like a total fake. It contains nuggets like “very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities”. The Iranian Foreign Ministry was adamant: there were no conversations. “Iran rejects any talks until the objectives in the war are achieved”).

At face value, neo-Caligula decided to “postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period.” What may have really happened is that Iran, via Oman, relayed to Neo-Caligula that they have all the cards, and if he goes on with his threat, he will be sole responsible for crashing the global economy. So discombobulation set in in the Mar-a-Lago universe, as US Treasuries and stocks were already in panic mode, attacks on Iran power plants already took place early Monday, and Iran was bound to retaliate big time in the dead of night. The infernal escalation machine though is far from contained. See you in five days.

Israel has bought the U.S. Congress through its campaign contributors. But there’s a circular flow. Congress will give aid to Israel. Israel will use some of the aid it gets to pay back into the lobbying effort to pay the congressmen. So everything, some portion of whatever they give Israel ends up in their own pockets. That’s the circular flow we have, thanks to Citizens United and related things. So you’re having a whole system that is so dysfunctional that I think a lot of American voters think there’s nothing we can do. The system is so corrupt.

I want to say, just for later discussion, I want to pose two future things that I want to talk about. A major, the aim of Iran is said to isolate OPEC from the United States and from the dollar. First of all, it says OPEC countries cannot let the United States use their territory as military bases. That’s why it bombed Bahrain, Kuwait and other countries. Second, Iran has said, “In order to really lead the Arab countries to avoid reestablishing these bases, we have to stop the economic linkages between the Arab countries and the United States.” And one of the major linkages that they’ve pointed out are the large computer companies that want to have computer stations to process automatic intelligence. Google, Microsoft, and the others. So the Iranians have said, “We’re going to bomb enough of their installations here so that they cannot do this.” And they’ve made a final, really radical demand on the other Arab countries. “You have to begin disinvesting in the United States. All of your huge national savings and the personal savings of the Arab monarchies have been invested in U.S. stocks and bonds, mainly bonds and bank deposits. You have to disinvest with the United States.” Well, that’s already occurring voluntarily by the Arab countries because they say, especially Saudi Arabia, “We’re a very heavy debt-leveraged economy. And now that we’re not getting oil export revenues anymore, we need to balance our budget and to avoid defaulting on our financial linkages by liquidating some of the savings that we’ve been built up.”

So you’re having the Arab countries already beginning to sell off the savings. That’s one thing that’s happening. Another is something that’s going to happen as a result of this World War III that’s very much the same as occurred after World War II. That is, it’s going to end the monarchies in many Arab OPEC countries. You’ve already seen Bahrain’s king, who was a protégé of Saudi Arabia. He’s fled the country and gone to Saudi Arabia. And Bahrain has a primarily Shiite population, whereas the king is Sunni and gone there. I would expect that monarchy to fall, just as World War I saw the monarchies of Europe end. England kept its monarchy because they were turned into a tourist attraction, basically, without any real effect. But the monarchies ended. Well, also, Jordan is probably a monarchy where you’re going to have the domestic, largely Palestinian population, overthrow the monarchy of Jordan. And I think that the aim of Iran is to replace the Arab family monarchies with monarchies that are more sympathetic to them and at least tolerant of the Shiite religion, no longer the Sunni Wahhabi supremacists. So I think you’re going to see this is a major characteristic. And of course, the other thing I think we should talk about for the future result of this World War III is the First World War led to the creation of an international organization, the League of Nations. The United States did not join it because it said, we won’t join any international organization in which we don’t have veto power. No one’s going to tell us what to do.  Well, the world fell into depression, World War II. After World War II, there was another attempt to create a body of international law, the United Nations. That has now been dissolved. We’ve seen the utter hopelessness, the utter inability of the United Nations to stop this war, to stop the United States, to stop Israel, to stop the genocide that you’re seeing that is now spread from Gaza to the West Bank, and to stop what Israel has been doing in the last week is it expects Iran to be able to wipe out most of Israel. It sees the handwriting on the wall.

So what is it doing? It’s moving to Lebanon. It’s taking over Lebanon to say if we can’t live in Israel and that’s all bombed out. Well, there’s one country that’s not bombed out, Lebanon. We’re going to bomb it just enough to move there. So you’re seeing a whole attack on military aggression in the world from the U.S., Israel, Access, and its allies. Probably the result of all of this is going to be either to restructure the UN or more likely to create a brand new organization that will not have U.S. veto power, will not have the U.S. control, and will have its own financing and budget and probably move out of New York, which, as we’ve said, the Secretary General Gutierrez said the UN is broke and it’s going to have to move out of New York anyway by August. So I think these are what I think we should talk about, how the world will be evolving as the war winds down. And whatever the results are, it looks like Iran is going to be in terms of the timing, certainly, not the United States. Iran is in terms of the timing. And as the oil crisis goes down and the gas liquefied natural gas crisis and the fertilizer crisis leading to a chemical industry crisis and an industrial crisis, all of this is going to restructure the world just as seriously, I think, as World War I and II did in their ways.

JEFFREY SACHS: People should understand that presidents of the United States in our modern history have been assigning murder, calling for the murder of people sitting in the Oval Office. I’m not talking about the wars. I’m talking about directed murder, occasionally of American citizens, more often not. But presidents sitting and causing people to be murdered, particular individuals. It’s not only Trump, it’s vile what we see. But this has been going on for quite a long time. It’s shocking. It is what has happened to what we once had in the United States, which was, at least we claimed, we believe that we had a democratic system under the rule of law. We have a murder, incorporated, perpetual war, a military industrial complex, a private army of the United States called the CIA, which engages in operations like regime change that trigger wars that cost hundreds of thousands or sometimes millions of lives. And this emanates from the Oval Office. So this has been going on for quite a while. It’s really important for people to understand this. This is not about partisanship. This is about our system. Our system is lawless. Our system is that a president orders murders. Our system is that the CIA carries out covert wars. That doesn’t mean the wars aren’t known or that you can’t point to the agents of these wars. It means that they deny the truth before our eyes. That’s our system. And we have to end that and return to the idea of the rule of law. Not just the idea. I mean the practice of the rule of law and the practice of the U.S. Constitution before, and I hope it’s not before, it is irreversible.
