Mearsheimer iterates in an interview, as mentioned earlier, that Israel is a strategic albatross around USA’s neck. Why is it then that the strongest state of the world so docilly accepts this albatross around its neck? For the answer to this ambiguity, one must look at the notorious Military industrial complex (MIC) of the USA. The strategic albatross, though provided with annual military aid installment from US, is required to spend the majority of that aid on purchases from the US military companies under the very text of the abovementioned MOU. Therefore, dozens of US military companies earn a vast profit from Israel’s bloody adventures in the Middle East. Boeing, one of the US military companies, has made transactions of almost 1000 small diameter bombs and 1800 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits to Israel. Furthermore, the air -to-surface missiles for F-16, and F-15 fighter jet engines of Israel are purchased from RTX. In addition, RTX and Israeli weapons company run a joint venture named Rafael for the production of interceptors for Israel’s Iron Dome. The metal bodies for the MK-80 bomb series (the primary aerial munitions used by Israel in Gaza) are developed by General Dynamics. Caterpillar, another US military company, sells D9 armored bulldozer which has been employed by the IDF to discombobulate Palestinian homes and infrastructure in the occupied West Bank and the Israel’s ground invasion of the Gaza strip. The amazing thing and what’s new about the United States military today is it wants to declare military war on all other countries without having its own Army; without having its own military draft; without having its own soldiers, but having other countries do the fighting. Other countries means its satellites.  You can think of Europe – England, France, Germany the whole European Community as being America’s colonies.  These are colonies that, in turn, have themselves been  colonialists in Africa and Asia.  But the United States is trying to use them as part of this sort of army to do the fighting just like at the end of the Roman Empire.  Rome hired Germanic tribes, French tribes and Gaulish tribes to do most of their fighting including fighting against Rival generals.  America believes that it can control other countries militarily by fighting, not only to the last Ukrainian, but to let the last Polish fighter, the last German, the last Frenchman, the last Englishman as long as no Americans have to fight and they will fight with arms produced mainly by the United States. Arms which,  Andrei Martyanov pointed out, don’t really work very well in the kind of warfare that’s being fought today but arms that do create an enormous Financial profit for the investors in the military-industrial complex.  So you’re having  an American Army controlling foreign armies; the American Army controlled by generals whose objective is to rise through the ranks to a point where upon retirement they get to join the board of directors of Raytheon or Boeing or other major arm makers.  The purpose of war isn’t simply to defeat a foreign population but to use enough arms to generate a trillion dollars per year in military spending of which a large portion is profits to the financial investors in the arms making industries and their Boards of directors.

When it comes to Ukraine, we knew — our diplomats knew and warned that the continued pressure by the military-industrial complex to expand NATO to Ukraine would provoke war. But they never told the American people that. They never explained it. And 'til this day they haven't explained what this war is really about. You think about Libya. Again, lies. No explanation. Violation of the U.N. Security Council. You think about Syria. Not only was the whole Syrian effort a lie of the United States, it’s never even been explained to the American people that this was an operation that President Obama ordered the CIA to overthrow the Syrian government. It failed, but it was extremely costly and destructive. So, these have been wars of choice and wars of lies. They are pushed by the military-industrial complex. They are pushed by neoconservatives in both parties. Now we have new drumbeats of war, not only — as if Ukraine was not devastating and threatening enough with nuclear annihilation, now we’re talking war with China. Unimaginable. It could end the world. And yet this is normal discourse in what passes for grown-up discussion in Washington, which is not grown-up at all, in my opinion.

So the question is, all this money that is being paid to the military industrial complex of the US, Germany, France, where are they going to be used for? Well, the implication is, well, we can use them in the China Straits. We can use them in Asia. That's why we've invited Japan and South Korea here to try to stir things up and really make China fight, just like we've provoked Russia to fight. So the only kind of war that America can fight is a war of destruction, not occupation, not conquest, but just bombing. And that is terrorism. And of course, the Americans back up the bombing with supporting the terrorist groups like ISIS, or like the Israeli Defense Forces, or the groups, the kind of groups that they mobilized against the south of Russia before when they tried to spur great trouble in Chechnya, for instance, and Georgia.

Likud’s tactical belief is that the US will always be there, thick or thin, because the Israel Lobby (Jewish and Christian Evangelical alike) and the US military-industrial complex will always be there. Likud’s bet has always worked in the past and they believe it will work in the future. Yes, Israel’s violent extremism will cost Biden the support of America’s young voters, but if so, that will just mean Trump’s election in November, so even better for Likud.

Congress gives enormous subsidies to Israel, which recycles some of this money back into the election campaigns of politicians willing to serve their donors. It is the same policy that Ukraine uses when it employs U.S. “aid” by setting up well-funded lobbying organizations to back client politicians.

Israel has bought the U.S. Congress through its campaign contributors. But there’s a circular flow. Congress will give aid to Israel. Israel will use some of the aid it gets to pay back into the lobbying effort to pay the congressmen. So everything, some portion of whatever they give Israel ends up in their own pockets. That’s the circular flow we have, thanks to Citizens United and related things. So you’re having a whole system that is so dysfunctional that I think a lot of American voters think there’s nothing we can do. The system is so corrupt.

This is the collapse of American politics before our eyes.

America’s perpetual war machine This has nothing to do with morality. It has nothing to do with Western values. It has nothing to do with American values. It doesn’t even have to do with American interests from what I can see, although they say that American interests are at stake. Well, we’ve spent maybe $7 trillion on these reckless perpetual wars since 2001. The debt’s gone from about 30% of national income to more than 100% of national income. We’ve had these disastrous wars. Is this America’s interest? No. I mean, maybe we could have actually rebuilt a bridge or a road along the way or no, a mile of faster rail in our country or something. But no, we had to spend trillions and trillions on wars. So to my mind it’s all completely perverse. But what I find amazing is that once in a while you have you’ll actually find the truth expressed in such a vulgar way. No, they don’t count the Ukrainian lives. They don’t care at all. And sometimes they say they don’t care. Mitt Romney said: “It’s the greatest bargain, no American lives [lost]”. Dick Blumenthal said the same thing. Basically, this is a great bargain, no American lives.
