サリンの話を疑っている人はまだいるんだろうか、いるんだろうよ。

道化師として活躍中のニュースキャスター、ピアース・モーガンの問いに対して、ジェフリー・サックスは笑いながらこう答えている。

ピアース・モーガン：CIAが単にアサドを陥れるために化学兵器による攻撃を仕掛けたとでも？ ジェフリー・サックス：（笑）当たり前です、冗談じゃない。それよりもずっと悪いことをしてきた。 クーデター、暗殺、戦争です。

Piers Morgan: You think the CIA would launch a chemical weapons attack jれをust to smear Assad? Prof Jeffrey Sachs:  Of course it would, are you kidding? It's done much worse than that. It launches coups, assassinations, wars.

これを疑っている人はまだいるんだろうか。いるんだろうよ、CIAかモサド工作員としか思えない軍事評論家連中の語りをなんの疑いもなく聞き入っている方々が日本にはまだまだたくさんいるようだから。

いまはむしろ米国バックのウクライナによる化学兵器使用に対して真の懸念をすべき時なんだがな、ロシアの核・化学・生物防護部隊長イーゴリ・キリロフ中将の暗殺があったところでもあるし。

米国バックとしたが誤解のないように。サックスの定義する「米国」である。

米国ーー私がこの語で意味するのは、軍産複合体、つまり安全保障機構・情報機関・国防総省・軍需企業、そして議会における彼らの支持者たちからなる少数の権力者たちだが、彼らが考える米国の覇権を維持したいと考えている。〔･･･〕構造的に、米国の安全保障体制は覇権を求めて戦っており、世界大戦を引き起こす可能性がある。

The U.S.—and by that I mean the military-industrial blob or complex, a small number of powerful people from the security establishment, the intelligence agencies, the Pentagon, the military companies, and their supporters in Congress—wants to preserve American hegemony as they see it.[...]Structurally, the U.S. security establishment is fighting for its hegemony and it could end up creating a world war.

さて話を戻して2年前のスコット・リッターの記事を掲げておこう。

◾️スコット・リッター：ロシアの「ダーティボム」恐怖　2022年10月25日 ロシアは、ウクライナが「ダーティボム」（汚い爆弾）を製造・使用する可能性を正当に懸念しているようで、欧米の複数の国防当局幹部に接触するという前例のない行動に出たほどである。

SCOTT RITTER: Russia’s ‘Dirty Bomb’ Scare October 25, 2022 Russia appears to be legitimately concerned about the possibility of Ukraine building and using a “dirty bomb,” so much so that it has taken the unprecedented step of reaching out to multiple senior Western defense authorities.

日曜日の数時間のうちに、ロシア国防当局の最高幹部であるセルゲイ・ショイグ国防相とゲナディ・ゲラシモフ将軍は、アメリカ、イギリス、フランス、トルコの担当者に電話し、同じメッセージを伝えた。ウクライナは、いわゆる「汚い爆弾」を爆発させる準備をしている。高度の爆発的放射線物質を包んで、致命的な放射性同位体で広範囲を汚染させるためのものである。 ロシアは、ウクライナがこのような装置を爆発させた場合、人々や環境に与える直接的な影響を懸念しているだけでなく、このような事態がウクライナの西側同盟国によって、進行中の紛争に直接軍事介入するために利用される可能性を懸念している。これはシリアで起こったことと同様で、シリア政府による民間人へのサリン神経ガス使用に関する申し立てを米国、英国、フランスがシリアの軍事・インフラ目標への攻撃の正当化に使用した。(サリン使用の疑惑は虚偽であったことが判明した。商業用塩素の武器としての使用については、陪審はまだ出ていない)。

In the span of a few hours on Sunday, the senior-most Russian defense authorities — Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and General Gennady Gerasimov — called their counterparts in the U.S., U.K., France, and Turkey, with the same message — Ukraine is preparing to detonate a so-called “dirty bomb”— high explosive-wrapped radiological material, designed to contaminate large areas with deadly radioactive isotopes.  Russia is not only concerned about the immediate impact of Ukraine detonating such a devise in terms of the harm that would be done to people and the environment, but also about the potential for such an event to be used by Ukraine’s western allies to directly intervene militarily in the ongoing conflict, similar to what occurred in Syria when allegations about the use of Sarin nerve agent by the Syrian government against civilians were used by the U.S., U.K., and France to justify an attack on Syrian military and infrastructure targets. (It turned out that the allegations of Sarin use were false; the jury is still out about the use of commercial chlorine as a weapon.)
