The war on Iran is a US-Israeli war. US officials gave Israel intelligence and helped it prepare the attacks. The US empire gave Israel the green light. The Israeli media reported that Trump pretended he wanted peace with Iran to deceive it, while he backed Israel's war plans. Israel is an unsinkable aircraft carrier for the US empire, as even (ex US citizen) Netanyahu admitted. Israel does not make big decisions without approval from its US imperial sponsors. The "peacemaker" Donald Trump is responsible for this US-Israeli war of aggression on Iran.

Trump praised the US-Israeli attack on Iran as "excellent" (because he oversaw it). "There's more to come. A lot more", he said. When asked about the US role in supporting it, Trump said, "I don't want to comment on that" -- because we all know it was a US-sponsored operation. Israeli officials admit that Trump gave them "a clear US green light". Trump only falsely claimed to oppose an Israeli attack on Iran in public, so he could deceive Iran as the US and Israel prepared for war. The US empire can NEVER be trusted. Ever. Trump personally boasted to the Wall Street Journal that he was aware of the Israeli plans to attack Iran -- because he oversaw them. Again: this is a US-Israeli war. If the US actually opposed it, it would not be happening. The US empire wants this war.

MICHAEL HUDSON: Well, certainly it is supporting Israel, but it’s not supporting Israel because this is an altruistic act. To the United States, Israel is its landed aircraft carrier in the Near East. Israel is the takeoff point for America to control the Near East.(…)  to the United States, Netanyahu is the Israeli version of Zelensky in the Ukraine. And the advantage of having such an unpleasant, opportunist, and corrupt person as Netanyahu, who is under indictment for his bribery and corruption, is precisely that all of the attention now of the whole world that is so appalled by the attacks going on in Gaza, they’re not blaming the United States. They’re blaming Israel. They’re blaming Netanyahu and Israel for it, when it’s the United States that has been sending plane load after plane load of bombs, of guns.

Prof. Hudson then connects the major dots: “As I understand it, what the U.S. is doing with Israel is a dress rehearsal for it to move on to Iran and the South China Sea. As you know, there is no Plan B in American strategy for a very good reason: If anyone criticize Plan A, they’re considered not to be a team player (or even Putin’s Puppet), so critics have to leave when they see that they won’t be promoted. That’s why U.S. strategists won’t stop and re-think what they’re doing.”
